HAIGHER VALLEY IN THE FARS PROVINCE, IRAN
After spending many days in the beautiful city of Shiraz we really had to urge to get back out into the wild, out into nature and adventure. City life is just too hectic and since we couldn't camp in the city were also looking forward to sleep in our Landy Boy – it's just too comfortable. So this canyon sounded once more very promising. We had to check it out and it was worth it (yes, again): Stunning cliffs, a winding river, dramatic views and an EPIC camp spot. We haven’t been at the Grand Canyon in the States, but this canyon in Iran is for sure breathtaking too. And f*9(n cold at night ...
But first we had to get there. And this journey was another adventure. Let's say a Google Maps Adventure. It happened already many times that Google lead us into dead ends but this time it was different. Of course we are always keen for a little off-road detour, but this one was too challenging for us and we didn't wanna risk it.
Beautiful mountain scenery a long the road from Shiraz to Haigher.
This path was not to cross – at least we did not just follow the road instructions Google gave us.
Definitely too deep to cross.
Haigher Canyon
The canyon boasts steep cliffs, rugged rock formations, and a winding river, creating a stunning contrast of earthy tones and lush greenery along the water.
The views from the canyon rim are spectacular, especially when the sun light casts beautiful shadows over the rock formations. But quite steep we had to lower even to the second gear to get all the way up. But once we reached the top, views were even better!
Florians mom: Why so close to the edge!? Florian: Pure freedom.
Pure enjoyment and the sense of freedom looking into the valley.
Standing on the top of those steep cliffs gave us goosebumps. YES, you must feel it! And the view of this raw and untouched beauty was like wow, wow, wow! So we enjoyed it with another alcohol free beer – our favourite drink in Iran next to Chai.
We set up our camp on top of a plateau with real good views.
There weren’t many trees around but we still managed to get a campfire up. As usual some nice BBQ for dinner.
The night was cold and the moon close.
First things first: coffee with a view.
