A hike to the
Chaukhi lake
When we hear Dolomites, we're in – for a hike or anything – we love the Dolomites. The Chaukhi Mountains are a stunning mountain range located in the northeastern region of Georgia, often referred to as the CAUCASUS DOLOMITES, we heard. They are part of the Greater Caucasus range with dramatic peaks, stunning views and beautiful landscapes. We went on a hike ...
But the morning didn't exactly start as we wished. First of all we were not allowed to drive our car all the way up the village of Juta where the hike was going to start (even though we were told it was possible from 9am to 6pm). So we parked at the parking and agreed with the taxi driver to the non-negotiable overpriced amount to take us to the village. It got quite hectic after that, it was already 9:05am and the taxi driver started to yell around that we need to leave. We didn't even pack our backpacks yet. We rushed and joined the lovely couple from India we just met in the taxi. Once we arrived in the village, Florian jumped out of the car completely wet. Something leaked: our big coffee mug inside his backpack. Everthing including his camera gear got wet, completely. DAMN ...
Well, that was a BIG bummer, especially for Florian. So we set off with a somewhat depressed mood since his camera and lens were gone for sure and we had to take pictures with Stephanies iPhone and the drone only. But our mood changed as soon as we got the views ...
PICTURESQUE ALPINE LAKES
Blue Lake: Known for its striking turquoise-blue waters, it is the most iconic of the three lakes you'll find on this trek.

Chaukhi Lake, also known as Abudelauri Lake, is a group of picturesque alpine lakes on the way to the Chaukhi pass. Both views into the valley and towards the mountains were amazing. We love the reflection on the surface of the water.
STEPHANIE DIDN’T HESISTATE
She got off her hiking clothes and got into the water. Temperature: very cold. Like brain freezing cold. And she did not just dip in it, she took a real circle around the lake. Big up! 🙂
That was brave!
WHAT A BEAUTY OF
A MOUNTAIN
