BIZARRE ROCK FORMATIONS
Saudi Arabia has some fascinating landscapes all over the country. This is one of them. We LOVE them. And sunsets (as you already know). This place was somewhere in the middle of some huge lava fields in the Al Madinah Province. Harrat they are called. But these stones were not made by lava but are remains from an asteroid impact they say. Yep. Not lava — outer space.
Of course we had to climb these rocks for the view and the sunset.
We came to this place with Daniele and his friends — a real nice group of expats from Jeddah we had met a few days earlier at the Red Sea coast. We had already spent a fun evening together back then, so when they invited us to join them for another little off-road adventure, we of course said yes. Crazy landscapes, amazing people and lot's of fun outthere.

Weekend off-roaders and us
Daniele, originally from Italy, has been living in Saudi Arabia for over 40 years. He’s spent much of that time exploring the country and probably knows it better than many locals. Naturally, he speaks fluent Arabic.
He invited us on a weekend trip along with a few of his friends—fellow expats and fellow adventure enthusiasts. It was a great chance to get out and explore with a private guide who truly knows the trails.
Scattered meteorite finds all over a huge area – you can see them all the way to the horizon. Imagine the impact back then.
