50 SHADES OF BLUE IN THE MALDIVES OF TURKEY
Imagine a 
beach with turquoise waters and white sandy 
beaches. But it’s 
a lake.
Salda Gölü is a crater lake located in southwestern of Turkey, near the town of Burdur. See for yourself. And I mean, LOOK at it. Definitely like the Maldives in some ways. It's fantastic!
When we arrived, first we had to contemplate about this beauty.
Mermaid moment
We spent three days at Lake Salda, it felt like time slowed down. Each day started with a dip in the crystal clear waters, a stroll along the white magnesium rich shores, watching birds and do NOTHING. Just nothing. How good this actually feels. And this is the perfect place for it. DO NOTHING!

Magnesium-Rich Soil: The white shores are a result of hydromagnesite mineral deposits, which are rare and contribute to the lake’s unique color and texture.
We were standing there watching, and watching, and watching. Too nice not to.

Even the magnesium stones in the water looked like corals. So yes, for sure the Maldives!

It is one of Turkey's deepest lakes, with a maximum depth of 196 meters, and what makes it even more fascinating is its unique mineral composition, especially the magnesium rich white sands, which are similar to those found on Mars (at least that's what scientists says). Everything is learning. Even deep blue lakes with white sandy beaches. AND: Lake Salda supports unique ecosystems, including endemic plant species and microorganisms that thrive in its alkaline waters. It’s also a habitat for birds and ducks. But no flamingos.
Gotta end perfect days right: sunset, cozy campfire (made by Florian, as always), great food (also made by Florian), and a glass of wine, or two, ok maybe three. We love it!
