Day 1 – We arrived in South Tyrol

Finally we're on the road! Just a few hours ago we set off from Zurich, drove 446km, and now we've arrived in the mountains of South Tyrol, in the province of Bolzano, Italy. Somehow it feels unreal that we've started our road trip towards East. We're not sure for how long yet, but it's going to be a long one for sure. Feels surreal to be here!

Beautiful and moody landscapes the closer we got to the Dolomites.

Didn’t really feel like summer holiday time.

First dinner prep on the trip – and many more to come

Our very first night in our new home. The weather wasn’t on our side, but we enjoyed the view.

Guess what? We were not the only ones eager to hike to the “Drei Zinnen”. Traffic backed up at the gate leading to the trailhead.

Florian is soaking up the alpine view.

And this fluffy fellow didn’t give a damn about us – he’s used to the tourists for sure.

In silence we enjoy

On our second night, we were already joined by some nice company and celebrated life with a glass of wine …

… and a beautiful sunset – bedroom view!

Stephi is getting used to set up the camp.

Spending our first days in the mountains felt great and was the perfect gateway to leave our hectic time at home. Slowing down and becoming a bit more familiar with our new home on wheels. For sure it will take some time to get used to it and finding the right rhythm of travel. So this is us with our Landrover Defender TD4 that we just bought to go on this trip. Some call us crazy, some stupid and some even brave but one thing is certain – we left our comfort zone to go on a trip of a lifetime.
