the TRUSO VALLEY in
the north of GEORGIA

A special season with it's beautiful colors we didn't want to miss this year, autumn. Where's a good spot to experience it? Georgia. We heard this country is somewhat similar to Switzerland regarding the mountain region with its forests – a perfect destination for autumn. With some little research we found the Truso Valley. Located in the greater Caucasus Mountains, it is known for its stunning landscapes, with lush meadows, dramatic mountain views, and crystal-clear rivers and is considered one of the most beautiful in Georgia.

Some history insights about this area

Truso Valley has a rich history, particularly as an ancient trade route between the Caucasus and Central Asia. It was historically part of the Silk Road, facilitating trade and cultural exchange between different civilizations. You can actually still feel the ancient vibe passing traditional Georgian villages and with their unique architecture.

Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument

When we left the valley, we passed The Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument on the way to Stepansminda. The  Monument is built in 1983 to celebrate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and the ongoing friendship between Soviet Georgia and Soviet Russia. Inside the monument is a large tile mural that spans the whole circumference of the structure and depicts scenes of Georgian and Russian history. Quite nice acutally.
